Cacik & ezine > Tzatziki & feta
It's been 9 months since I moved to Vancouver. Even though we have a lot of Turkish restaurants and markets, there are still some things they don't have or can't make as good as the ones in Turkey. Last week, I ordered food from a Turkish restaurant and I was disappointed. The food was not bad, but it was not as good as the ones back home. Which led me to rank the Turkish food/snacks and drinks that I miss the most in Vancouver. Here is the list:
- Kiymali kol borek (Karakoy)
- Kir pidesi
- Ezine peynir (Preferably Mandiradan marka, tam yagli olgunlastirilmis)
- Lahmacun
- Ozerhisar ayran
- Kirkagac kavun
- Pastirma
- Cigkofte
- Fasulye tursusu
- Midye
- Cumhuriyet / apikoglu sucuk
- Islak hamburger (kizilkayalar)
- Tantuni
- Beyaz lahana / yaprak sarma
- Kuru patlican dolma
- Icli kofte
- Soguk baklava
- Kahvaltilik kavurma donuk
- White redbull (coconut & acai, surprised they don't have it here)
- Beypazari karadut & frenk uzumlu
Honorable mentions:
- Kandil simit
- Simit / acma / pogaca
- Tirnak / ramazan pide
- Hamsi pilav
- Bosnak mantisi
- Iskembe corba (Sorry not sorry)
I might edit this list later, but for now, this is it. I also plan to make a list of food/snacks and drinks that I like in Vancouver later.
